Workshop Description:

  • Are the jobs that a chemist can navigate exclusive to academia or industry?What industries? What else is there?

  • What do these jobs/internships look like?

  • How can I evaluate myself and the skill set that I have? What is the right job fit for me?

  • What different degree levels (BSc, MSc, PhD) can offer to the career pathway?

  • How mentoring, coaching and networking can assist in job landing?

  • How is the current job market?

  • Any resource/ACS resources to help me during job planning?

Dear our valued members and fellows,


The Northern New York Younger Chemist Committees (NNY-YCC) of the American Chemical Society with partnership with colleagues in the eastern USA-YCC ( St. Louis, Virginia, Eastern NY, Nashville, Philly) are organizing an interactive workshop (Job Interview: Refine your skills).

 

This workshop will take place on August 13th, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm ET. It will provide insight into the entire interviewing process, from before to after, that will polish your interview skills and make you stand out as a candidate. The format is based on your responses to the registration questions.  

 

You will be grouped with individuals that come from the same background and/or share similar interests, then assigned to a career consultant (See attached). After a brief intro, the groups will be separated into breakout rooms for an open forum discussion with the career counselor before being brought back to the main session for a rapid fire Q&A session and closing. 

 

During the event, ACS gift cards (which can be put toward membership dues or fun ACS swag) will be gifted to three randomly selected participants!
